For those who enjoy listening to great local bands and want to spend a couple of days in the sun combining the pleasures of eating great local food and dancing to some wonderfully diverse music, then the Big Gig is for you!

East Anglia is an area where many musicians come to retire and then rediscover their love of performing. Whether they live in a McCarthy & Stone property or in a remote country cottage, you may well spot a famous face from the past performing at the August celebration.

If you’re on holiday in the town and want to indulge in a spot of retail therapy, this is the place for you! The medieval thoroughfare has a wide selection of independent retailers including organic food shops, a traditional toy store and flourishing pubs and bars – all celebrating the town’s brewing history.

Every year the town hosts a free festival that’s well worth looking out for. If you love Bargain Hunt and the countless other TV antique shows, then Halesworth’s August antique street fair will be a real treat.

Stallholders come from all over the country, so you should be able to snare a bargain during this event.
