Experiencing the Best of the UK on a Budget

The UK is jam packed with fantastic things to do, and is certainly a place you’ll never run out of activities. But one complaint many people have is that the UK is too expensive to spend a ‘staycation’, and it is cheaper to go on a package holiday abroad.

However, we want everyone to sample the best the UK has to offer so we have put together a few tips below to help people travel in the UK on a more limited budget:

Take a Tour

Some people might not believe that taking a tour is a cheap way to do things, but often it allows you to see everything you want to see in a short space of time and because it brings together larger groups it can offer cheaper prices on entry tickets to National Parks, transport and other things.

There are many great tour operators UK wide, so you just have to find the one which offers the best deal for you, along with the things you want to see and do. Once you’ve done that, try and play them off against each other in order to bring the price down further.

By choosing a tour, you will save yourself the hassle of driving around everywhere you want to go, save money on transport costs and be able to focus on sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the place you are visiting.

Stay in Bed and Breakfasts

Bed and Breakfasts are the archetypal British accommodation and also offer a great way to save money on your travels. There are such a wide range of B&Bs that you really can pick your budget and find one which suits you. From the ultimate boutique B&B which comes with all the fancy trimmings to someone’s home with a few spare rooms, it’s all about picking the one that is best suited to your needs. Whether you fancy a cheap B&B in Plymouth or something with a little more luxury in one of the big cities, B&Bs always offer a great budget approach to accommodation.

Travel in Groups

Similar to the thinking behind taking a tour, travelling in larger groups is a great way to cut costs as you can share the price of transport, accommodation and entry to attractions between you all. Whether you travel together in a few cars or rent a bus, you will immediately save money on travel costs and make it much more affordable to travel longer distances. Group accommodation is also a fantastic way to stay somewhere for cheap. If you can find a big cottage which sleeps your party then you can have the same home comforts as usual at a fraction of the price you would pay for a hotel room. All you need to do is find a big enough group of people that you’d want to spend your holiday with!

Travel in Midweek

One way to guarantee lower prices is to travel during the week rather than on a weekend. You can get some amazing deals in stunning, unique surroundings like this and get an incredible holiday break on a shoestring.

Many people write off the UK as a possibility for their holidays, but it is packed with stunning sights, and hopefully we’ve illustrated that you can do it on a budget too!
